Born in Washington, D.C. Prior to college, studied privately with musicians in the National Symphony of Washington D.C. Attended Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia earning a Bachelor Degree in Secondary Education with a Double Major in Instrumental Music/Clarinet Performance and Vocal Music. Earned the first chair clarinet position for both the ODU Wind Ensemble and ODU Orchestra. Selected as one of three ODU musicians to perform in the Intercollegiate Band of Virginia. Requested to be an adjudicator at the County, District, and State levels as well as selected Conductor of Honor Bands. Holds a current Mississippi Certification License to instruct all instruments including Orchestral Strings K-12. Currently the Director of the Biloxi High School Philharmonic String Orchestra, the Biloxi Jr. High Orchestra, and the Mary C. O’Keefe Youth Symphony at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center in Ocean Springs, MS. Her career spans 30+ years of teaching and conducting experience with High School, Jr. High School, and Elementary Bands, Orchestras, Concert Choirs and Show Choirs as well as Private Studio Instruction. Her students have been continuously selected for top seat positions on the District, State and National levels. Using motivational techniques along with carefully selected method-studies provides students with the confidence and skills that enable them to perform at higher levels.
