Anita Weems I am an artist that began as self-taught, and later took classes from Betty Magee as well as private consultations from Dr. Anthony Galle, in Ocean Springs. I finished my formal education at William Carey University with a masters degree in art education. I have taught fine arts in the Jackson County School District for the last twenty years, and adjunct for MGCCC. My career in education spans from grades K-3, high school, to MGCCC.
Born in Washington, D.C. Prior to college, studied privately with musicians in the National Symphony of Washington D.C. Attended Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia earning a Bachelor Degree in Secondary Education with a Double Major in Instrumental Music/Clarinet Performance and Vocal Music.
Billy Marter began as a street musician in Washington, DC in the late 80's. After returning to Mississippi in the 90's, he began playing solo in coffee houses and in bars with rock bands. He studied classical guitar at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community college with Natasha Klasinc-Loncar and received a scholarship for further studies with Giovanni Dechiaro at USM.
Chef Cheri Hiers Chef Cheri started cooking standing on a chair in her mother's kitchen. She has since spent 17 years in the food service industry and earned degrees in both Hospitality Management and the Culinary Arts. This will be her third year running Jr. Chef Summer Camps.
Cliff Thompson is a musical theatre professional and instructor from Biloxi, MS. He holds a BFA in Theatre Performance in Acting from the University of Southern Mississippi and two years of graduate study in Theatre Production with an emphasis in Directing. He has worked as an actor, director, choreographer and teacher at theatres spanning the country.
Kelsey Wishik is a multimedia artist who spent most of her childhood growing up in Ocean Springs, MS. Her work explores a number of mediums and dimensions from drawing and sculpture, to writing and music. She considers her role as an artist to communicate a sense of awe and reverence for life through any accessible creative means.
Matt Schnake Matt Schnake has been performing music on the Gulf Coast for over twenty years, and has been teaching for ten. The focus of his guitar lessons is on teaching the student exactly what they wish to learn, while implementing the fundementals of the ins and outs of theory, sight reading, harmony and chord structure for rock, jazz, blues, pop, country, or folk.
Pam Coppola, is a self taught Stained Glass Artist and Instructor. at the Mary C OKeefe Cultural Center. She also is the owner of Fancy Glass by Pam. Looking back after a 38 year career in Shipbuilding, following her passion as a stained glass artist was not part of the equation – She had to choose her career
Summer Bat has lived on the coast for 3 years. She is currently involved in the community in various forms. She works at the Greenhouse on Porter as their social media wizard, hosts free meditation once a week at Downtown Yoga, and also hosts Poetry Night once a month at the Greenhouse.
