Beginning Watercolor (NEW)

Jeanette Lindsey has been an artist since the latter part of the 20th century. Although her major in college was Business, she minored in art. Jeanette began painting folk art where she learned the basics of color and blending. Jeanette studied under Evelyn Huxley and then learned to china paint in Mobile, Alabama. A friend had bought his daughter a set of water colors and lent them to Jeanette – it was love at first “brush stroke.” In 2008 Jeanette spent a week with Catherine Anderson in Maine. Even though Jeanette had worked with water color for years, Catherine introduced her to a whole new meaning of washes. Although water color is sometimes seen as unforgiving, it is so much fun. Come and learn to paint.

These classes will show the student the basics of water color:

Paper – which paper and why (brushes and other supplies)

Paint – transparent and opaque and how they react to each other and to water

Color – color wheel (primary, secondary, tertiary, complementary and analogous)

Washes – how to do a fabulous wash

Design – how to create a picture

Tips and tricks (masking, salt, stencils, “funny” brushes

At the end of the class, the student should be able to paint a picture or two.

A supply list will be furnished.
